Dog Arthritis Treatment
What is Dog Arthritis?
There are two types of canine arthritis: degenerative joint disease and inflammatory joint disease.
Degenerative Joint Disease or Osteoarthritis in Dogs:
Degenerative Joint Disease or osteoarthritis is the most common. This is when the cartilage that protects the bone is damaged. It affects a large proportion of dogs as they grow older, or if they are injured or their joints are over-worked.
Canine Inflammatory Joint Disease
Inflammatory Joint Disease in canines is usually caused by an infection.
You can’t cure either of the above dog arthritis problems – just manage the pain, or have surgery.
Just like with humans, the inflammation hurts, preventing the animals walking or running normally, and causing them to be stiff and sore. You see it most obviously when the pet tries to get up after lying down – they’re in pain, and you can see it’s hurting them just to stand up.
Treatment for Dog Arthritis:
There’s a myriad of pills available to help give canine arthritis relief, ranging from steroids, anti-inflammatories, to glucosamine. But drugs are expensive, and are not good for long term use, as they can have potentially serious side effects.
Natural remedies like glucosamine also represent a continuing expense. All these pills and medications have one aim: to relieve pain – exactly why the PetMag is a good pet therapy solution: it eases canine arthritis pain in a simple, economical way. Just put it on their bed, and give them a better quality of life. You cannot go wrong with a PetMag, great pet therapy product.
